Astro Hua Hee Mega Star

The Astro Hua Hee Mega Star (previously known as Astro International Hua Hee Karaoke) is an international singing competition held annually with LBS as one of the main sponsors. It is organisedby Astro Malaysia to promote Chinese culture namely Chinese dialect – Hokkiento the young generation, in a more relaxing and fun way. It also promotes bonding between the participants who come from other countries across Asia.

The Star Step Up and NiE

Step Up, The Star’s NiE(Newspaper-in-Education), is a 24-page bilingual education pullout with two versions, one with Bahasa Malaysia translation of English words and the other with Chinese translation for primary school students from Years 4-6. The pullout not only provides a platform for students to carry out the exercise and submit to the teachers for discussion as it also has interesting games and activities.

Datuk Sri Wong Chun Wai will be receiving a mock cheque from LBS, which has sponsored RM60,000 worth of NiE pullouts…..Sam Tham/Star Publication

The full-coloursyllabus-based pullout is approved by the Ministry of Education (MoE) Malaysia and is published twice a month.

Since 2012, LBS has been contributing to this initiative to support classroom education in schools in Malaysia.

Blood Donation Campaign

LBS collaborated with associations such as The Federation of Malaysia Lim Associations, Petaling Jaya Business Association, Sungai Way Selangor Hokkien Association, Selangor & Kuala Lumpur Lim Clansmen Association (Women) and corporations e.g. SKVE Holdings SdnBhdto drive blood donation. This activity is to encourage the community to donate blood consistently to increase the blood bank supplies.

Kiwanis Motor Treasure Hunt

LBS Bina Group Berhad(LBS) has been a long-term supporter of the Kiwanis Motor Treasure Hunt since 2007. In 2017, LBS sponsored RM120,000 to support the event which was organisedby the Kiwanis Club of Kuala Lumpur (KCKL) to raise funds for the operations and maintenance of Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation – National Centre (KDSF-NC). Aside from the sponsorship, LBS is also supporting by sending employees to take part in the treasure hunt.

The KDSF-NC has been a priceless source for children with Down Syndrome. The KDSF-NC, now in its 28th year of operation, conducts programmessuch as ‘The Early Intervention Programme’, for children with Down Syndrome aged two months to six years old, to nurture fine motor skills, speech development, social development and pre-academic skills complemented by physiotherapy facilities. With a maintenance cost of over RM800,000 a year, this well-equipped centre constantly needs the support from the communities and corporations for the benefit of these special children.

Anugerah Hijau 2013 – 2015

Anugerah Hijau is an award event organised by EcoKnight, an environmental non-profit organisation. It has an impressive participation from Malaysian young adults, aged between 18 and 29 years who are challenged to innovatively experiment with their creativity and skillsin addressing environmental issues. Every year, the participants were tested on different environmental issue and competed in few stages before entering the finals.
